TGL announces Season 2 improvements, including bigger, better Green Zone and enhanced sim graphics

When Season 2 of TGL kicks off on December 28, the player experience inside SoFi Center will look different.

The hybrid indoor golf league has announced several changes to the game play inside the arena that should mark an impovement over the successful debut season.

The most noticeable change is in the size and design of the Green Zone, the area of the arena where players compete inside of 50 yards, including putting, chipping and bunker play.

The SYNLawn putting surface itself, which was designed by Beau Welling Design, has been increased by 38 percent from 3,800 to 5,270 square feet. The average green size on the PGA Tour is 5,701 square feet, meaning the new green will be more emblematic of what players see at a traditional PGA Tour event. Underneath the putting surface, the two Full Swing Golf vitrual greens have been slightly increased in size and have 8 percent more actuators underneath to create more adjustable putting square footage and more hole locations.

The slope of a portion of the chipping area has been regraded to encourage a wider variety of short-game shots, while the smallest bunker in the Green Zone has been removed. The two remaining bunkers are 50 percent larger, allowing for more earnest bunker play. Each of the two bunkers also now has revetted layers of turf to create distinct bunker walls.

The simulator component of play has also been improved. New Unity 6 software will deliver dramatically improved graphics. Several holes have been updated with new looks, tee boxes angles and hole features, all designed to encourage more strategy and decision-making. Six of the Season 1 holes will be re-dubbed and re-designed to be official, team-specific holes for competition.

The hitting boxes have been enlarged to provide more space and to improve divot management, with the larger fairway bunker space allowing for a more difficult bunker lip.

For fans, the peak of the Green Zone has been dropped 18 inches for a better viewing experience inside SoFi Center. Addtitionally, two sets of ball-tracking camera sensors were moved into the SoFi Center ceiling for better sightlines.

The 2026 TGL season starts Sunday, Dec. 28 at 3 p.m. ET on ABC with 2025 finalists New York Golf Club taking on defending champion Atlanta Drive GC.
