You've seen the Royal Portrush Golf Club on TV, when the R&A presents and the PGA Tour recognizes the British Open Championship in Northern Ireland. You want to give it a shot yourself and see if you can tame it as well the rest of this gem.

What most people don't know is that Royal Portrush Golf Club is a publicly accessible course that is accessible with careful planning and contact with the club. Most of the great clubs in Ireland and the United Kingdom make some public play available, even if they have a private membership.

The course is designed by Harry S. Colt, with Martin Ebert helping to modernize the Dunluce Links course for the 2019 Open.

If you're thinking of taking a special golf trip to the island of Ireland, Royal Portrush Golf Club should then be on your list. So how does it compare to other golf Meccas in terms of price? How much does it cost to play golf at Royal Portrush Golf Club?

In 2025, Royal Portrush Golf Club is open for play for the public, with tee times regularly available through balloting and through travel agencies.

There are certain windows during which visitors can play, though visitors are not allowed to play on Wednesdays. It's important to plan your journey accordingly.

The rates vary because the club schedules fees based on the time of year. At this point, the club is planning out its 2026 schedule, and the green fee for the Dunluce Links course (the one that hosts the Open) is going to be £420 per person (or $562 per person). There are discounts available if you book as a foursome. The season runs April 1 through October 31.

The Valley Links, the other course on property, is £200 per person and a great way to round out a trip.

You should absolutely book this in advance, and typically, doing so as part of a bigger package with an incoming tour operator is a good idea.
