Scottie Scheffler won his third-career major championship on Sunday at Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, taking the 2025 PGA Championship by five shots in what turned out to be a rout but wasn't anything of the sort.
Scheffler got emotional in winning his second PGA Tour event in a row -- he tied the PGA Tour's 72-hole scoring record in his last event at The CJ Cup Byron Nelson -- and checking off the second leg of the career Grand Slam. He breathed a sigh of relief at first before embracing his caddie Ted Scott, throwing his hat to the turf and yelling in celebration of what he had accomplished.
After walking off the 18th green and back toward the clubhouse, Scheffler was surrounded by his family, including his wife Meredith, his son Bennett and his parents.
Scheffler's dad, Scott (which is why Scottie is Scottie), said something incredibly touching to his son.

It's the kind of thing that any child would love to hear from their parents at any point in their life, for any kind of accomplishment that meant something to them. It's really cool that happened in one of the biggest moments of Scheffler's career, and it's also compelling that it was picked up on camera.
Scheffler has long credited his parents and his wife as a ground support system for him as he goes on the journey of his professional golf career. They know when to pick him up and also when to make sure to prevent him from letting his ego get too big. After all, Scheffler now has three majors, 15 PGA Tour wins and is by far the No. 1 player in the Official World Golf Ranking.
At the end of the day, though, so many kids just want to know they're doing right by the people who raised them. Scottie got that affirmation in a special way.
