The 144-player field competes in the biggest single event of the year, with the event played at the home of the PGA Tour.
A cut is made after 36 holes to the top 65 players and ties at the halfway point. All players who finish four rounds of the tournament will earn money.
The prize-money payout is typically based on exactly 65 players making the cut and finishing the tournament. When more than 65 pros make the cut, the purse is increased to make sure every player is paid.
The event is played this year at the Players Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida.
This is the 12th PGA Tour event of the 2025 PGA Tour schedule.

Beyond money, there are important points, perks and benefits on the line for the field -- in particular, the tournament winner.
The winner of The Players Championship event earns 750 FedEx Cup points, as will be the case for major events. The winner gets 80 Official World Golf Ranking points, with the points available based on field strength.
The champion will enjoy the benefits of winning PGA Tour event, including a five-year exemption on the PGA Tour and a three-year exemption into the four major championships.
