The 2025 The Genesis Invitational marks the seventh event of the season on the PGA Tour, with the second mainland United States Signature event unfolding from Thursday through Sunday at Torrey Pines' South Course near San Diego, California.

This week's PGA Tour event has a $20 million purse, with a 72-player field competing in the tournament.

The winner's share of the 2025 The Genesis Invitational prize pool is at $4,000,000, with the second-place finisher taking home $2,200,000 in PGA Tour prize money, provided they finish in solo second place and there no need to split prize money among ties.

The Genesis Invitational winner takes home 20 percent of the purse to the winner, and how much each PGA Tour player earns is guaranteed down to the last-place professional player.

The Genesis Invitational field is headed by Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy, Wyndham Clark, Justin Thomas and more.

The tournament starts on Thursday with 72 players, and a cut will be made this week after two rounds to the top 50 players and ties, as well as those within 10 shots of the lead. Every professional player in the field is paid for completing the event. The PGA Tour typically adding money to the purse if more than 65 professionals make the cut to ensure all players are paid.

While money is crucial to a professional golfer's livelihood, they also benefit from FedEx Cup points and Official World Golf Ranking points that can earn them bonus money and entry into future events, like major championships.

The winner of this event will get 700 FedEx Cup points, as will be practice for all Signature events in 2025.

The champion also gets a to-be-determined amount of Official World Golf Ranking points -- likely around 75.

Nearly all players who complete four rounds this week will earn both FedEx Cup points and Official World Golf Ranking points.
