You've been watching The American Express on TV and have seen the incredible views of the California desert on TV from PGA West's Stadium Course (and maybe Nicklaus Tournament Course, too) in La Quinta, California.
You want to give it a shot yourself and see if you can hang on at the Stadium Course and maybe score better on the Nicklaus Tournament Course.
You're wondering how much it costs to play at PGA West.
The answer? Such an incredible experience, as you'd imagine, is not cheap -- especially if you're not a local resident.
How much does it cost to play golf at PGA West?
In 2025, the rate for PGA West's Stadium Course and Nicklaus Tournament Course varies based on day of the week, time of day and tee-time demand.
For both courses, the rates are based on demand pricing and seasonality. The earlier the tee time, the more likely it's going to cost more money.
Let's use the schedule in the weeks after the tournament as an example.
On the Stadium Course, the Pete Dye masterpiece, the early morning green fees go for $310 per person. In the 8 a.m. hour, rates are $399 per person, but that drops by a few dollars up until about noon. After noon, the green fee is $316 per person.
At around 2 p.m., rates change, and the Stadium Course can be played for $177 per person.
Tee times after 3 p.m. go for $112 per person, making it effectively a twilight rate to give players about 3 hours to get in as many holes as possible.
On the Nicklaus Tournament Course, the most desirable tee time around 10 a.m. goes for $366 per person. The earliest tee times go for $289 per person. The times are about $350 in the later afternoon. Closer to 2 p.m., the cost drops to anywhere from $94 to $112.
If you're flexible with your plans and are willing to play at warmer times of day or slightly earlier, then you can enjoy significant savings at PGA West.
