Patty Tavatanakit is a contender in the final round of the 2024 Grant Thornton Invitational, teaming together with Jake Knapp from the PGA Tour in the team event in Florida. A win here would be Tavatanakit's second on the LPGA Tour this season, albeit in a challenge event.

Tavatanakit is 25 years old, and she has status on the LPGA Tour this season as a major champion, winning the former ANA Inspiration -- now known as The Chevron Championship -- in 2021.

This season, Tavatanakit won in her native Thailand at the Honda LPGA Thailand, and she won on the Ladies European Tour in the Aramco Ladies International.

For Tavatanakit, her journey to the PGA Tour is a remarkable story.

Tavatanakit was born in Thailand. She went to UCLA for school and college golf.

Tavatanakit is hitting her prime

Tavatanakit won three times on the Epson Tour to get to the LPGA, but her big win was in that major breakthrough in California.

At the end of the LPGA season, Tavatanakit was ranked 20th in Race to the CME Globe. She's currently ranked 26th in the Rolex Women's World Golf Ranking. She earned her way into the event through her status achieved this season on the LPGA Tour.

What a win at the Grant Thornton Invitational means

With a win, Tavatanakit would earn her half of the winner's equal share of 2024 Grant Thornton Invitational payout, taking home $500,000.
