The 2019 CME Group Tour Championship final leaderboard is headed by winner Sei Young Kim, who ended the season in style, with a one-stroke win over Charley Hull at Tiburon Golf Club in Naples, Fla.
In the season-ending LPGA Tour event for 2019, Kim faced a 25-foot birdie putt on the final hole to claim victory over Hull, who had made birdie on five of her final seven holes to shoot 65 and threaten for a second win in this event. Kim then made the big sweeper from left to right, getting the ball in the side door for the win on 18-under 270.
Danielle Kang and Nelly Korda finished tied for third place on 16-under total. Jin Young Ko, who came into the season-ending event as the leader of the Race to the CME Globe, finished T-11 and seven behind Kim.
Kim won the $1,500,000 winner's share of the $5,000,000 purse.
CME Group Tour Championship recap notes
This was the first year of the new format for the CME Group Tour Championship. In previous years, a field of 72 played a separate tournament, with a reset points structure used to determine the winner of the Race to the CME Globe. This year, that was combined into one purse for the 72-hole event, with one winner.
Brooke Henderson finished alone in fifth place, capping a year of $1.7 million in earnings with another multi-win campaign.
After winning either the CME Group Tour Championship or the Race to the CME Globe the last two years, Ariya Jutanugarn and Lexi Thompson were not factors on Sunday. Thompson finished the best at T-6.
Getting to the CME Group Tour Championship doesn't confer special status on any player as it relates to LPGA priority categories, but rather it's treated as a special bonus event to conclude the year.
This venue is not only home to the season-ending LPGA Tour event, but it's also home to the QBE (Shark) Shootout, which is an unofficial PGA Tour-sanctioned event played in December.
