2019 WGC-HSBC Champions money: Purse, winner’s share, prize money payout

The 2019 WGC-HSBC Champions purse is set for $10.25 million, with 77 professional players who complete four rounds at Sheshan International Golf Club in Shanghai, China, earning a paycheck this week.

The winner's share of the WGC-HSBC Champions prize pool is at $1,745,000, with the second-place finisher taking home $1,095,000.

The WGC-HSBC Champions field is headed by Rory McIlroy, Hideki Matsuyama and Jordan Spieth.

This tournament started with 78 players, but Ian Poulter withdrew during the second round, meaning there is one less player in this no-cut field. The payout remains the same despite money freed up from Poulter's absence and not completing all four rounds.

With the new PGA Tour cut rule down to the top 65 and ties, no players are subject to the PGA Tour's secondary cut any longer.

The World Golf Championships events pay differently in each event, with the HSBC Champions and Mexico Championship having a maximum of 78 players. The Dell Technologies Match Play has 64 players. The FedEx St. Jude Invitational technically does not have a cap. All pay less than 18 percent of the total purse to the winner.
