With the PGA Tour deciding to offer a one-and-done fantasy golf platform starting in 2017, as well the increasing number of private one-and-done leagues, we here at Golf News Net will offer weekly one-and-done fantasy golf picks separate from our weekly fantasy golf rankings and picks.
We began with the 2017 SBS Tournament of Champions in Hawaii, continue to the 2017 Tour Championship this week and will work through the Tour Championship in Atlanta in September, keeping track of our picks all along the way.
First, before we begin, if you're not familiar with game, read this primer on the one-and-done fantasy golf format, and welcome to the game. It really is as easy as it sounds, but you have to take a long-term view of the season to figure out how best to use players.
We're in the home stretch of the PGA Tour season right now. The playoffs are here, meaning in your PGATour.com league, these are the four most important tournaments of the season. Hopefully you saved up your players properly and can now deploy for a chance to win your league. If you're in a money league, these four weeks are still huge with nearly $9 million purses for each of the next four events.
Alright, this is it! We end the season this week with the Tour Championship. There are 30 guys, and the top five face a simple proposition: win the Tour Championship, and you'll get a $10 million bonus and the FedEx Cup. Can someone do it?
2017 Tour Championship One and Done picks
- Dustin Johnson: If you haven't used him to this point, now's as good of a time as any.
- Jordan Spieth and Justin Thomas: Same boat as DJ. You've probably used them by now, but they're hot hands.
- Jason Day: Day has showed signs of life and murdered Conway Farms just like in 2015. The Tour Championship didn't turn out well.
- Marc Leishman: Leishman won at Conway Farms and looked great at TPC Boston, too. Go with the hot hand?
- Jon Rahm: Rahm just keeps playing great in the playoffs.
- Patrick Cantlay: Odds are you haven't used him yet, and he's been brilliant in the playoffs.
My pick this week will be Patrick Cantlay. I've used pretty much every other top player, and he's better than Xander Schauffele or Patrick Reed right now.
