2017 WGC-Bridgestone Invitational field: How to qualify, earn exemptions

The 2017 WGC-Bridgestone Invitational fieldĀ is one of the most elite on the PGA Tour, with exemptions in 5 different categories that wind up getting the overwhelming number of top-50 players in the Official World Golf Ranking in the field.

A golfer has to be one of the best on the planet to qualify for the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational, or they have to earn their way in with a money list lead or an important victory in a big golf tournament, earning an invitation to this no-cut tournament.

WGC-Bridgestone Invitational qualifying and exemption categories

  1. Playing members of the prior year's Presidents Cup or Ryder Cup teams, whichever was played the prior year
  2. Top 50 players in the Official World Golf Ranking two weeks prior to event
  3. Top 50 players in the Official World Golf Ranking one week prior to event
  4. Tournament winners of International Federation of PGA Tours events since the previous WGC-Bridgestone Invitational with an Official World Golf Ranking Strength of Field Rating of 115 points or more
