The 2017 Valspar Championship will offer 48 Official World Golf Ranking points to the winner of this week's tournament at Innisbrook Resort's Copperhead Course.
The Official World Golf Ranking rates the field at 290, which means the top 50 players in the field will earn world ranking points for their finish.
The Official World Golf Ranking is determined based on points earned over a rolling 104-week (or two-year) period. Players earn points for each event played, and they maintain their value for the first 13 weeks after they're earned, then they lose value in even installments over the next 91 weeks. Those points are divided by the number of tournaments played (or a minimum divisor if the number of events played is too low) to determine the average points per event, which is the basis of the ranking.
