Rory McIlroy is getting married, you guys, to the love of his life, PGA of America employee and girlfriend Erica Stoll. We've known that for a while now, but what we haven't known is Rory McIlroy's wedding date. Now we have that, kind of.
McIlroy and Stoll will get married in April 2017, according to a report in the Irish Daily Times. What's unclear -- and the Irish tabloid media hasn't been very good at reporting on McIlroy specifics -- is the actual date. Masters Sunday is April 9, so it's probably not going to be until April 10. Normal people get married on Saturdays and Sundays, so you can start adding by six and seven to figure out possible dates.
The ceremony, the paper reports, will be held at Ashford Castle in Ireland, which sounds pretty great. The couple have been there before, spending New Year's Eve there in 2014 and '15.
McIlroy is obviously from Northern Ireland with an American base in Florida, as well real estate in other countries. Stoll is from Rochester, N.Y., but she's a fan of Ireland (we are as well), so the overseas wedding is clearly not an issue. Who doesn't love a good travel wedding anyhow?
Yes, McIlroy has sent out a wedding invitation before, back when he was engaged to tennis player Caroline Wozniacki. Then the couple split not too long after they were mailed. That's not going to happen this time.
The only thing in doubt is if Tiger Woods gets an invite...and a plus one.
