While the final World Golf Championships event of the year is unfolding in Ohio, the Barracuda Championship will be played in Reno in its usual opposite-field slot.
Geoff Ogilvy is (perhaps unfortunately) defending champion at Montreux Golf and Country Cub, headlining a field that also features a number of young players hungry for a breakthrough win.

On to the picks!
1. Brendan Steele -- Steele is our guy this week because he has the rare misfortune of having to play really well in this event two years in a row. Back-to-back top eights have him leading our picks.
2. Wil Wilcox -- Wilcox backed up a runner-up effort at the last opposite-field event, the Barbasol Championship, with a T-21 at the Quicken Loans National. Big breakthrough week possible.
3. Ollie Schniederjans -- The Georgia Tech product has been hot out of the gate as a pro. He should be aggressive here with a chance to earn a surprise two-year exemption.
4. Austin Cook -- Cook has been a monster in very limited, earned play this season. This is his last good chance to rack up money and FedEx Cup points to earn some 2015-16 status.
5. Andres Romero -- The Argentine has been playing very good golf of late, with three top 25s in his last four starts, including a pair of top-10 finishes. He's been in the top 15 here the last two years.

6. Patrick Rodgers -- Rodgers has cashed in five of his last seven PGA Tour starts, but none of them have been in spectacular fashion. Poor final rounds have killed him in his last three cuts made.
7. Steve Wheatcroft -- Wheatie is playing well of late, with two top-11 finishes in his last three starts. He's good for next season, but his aggressive style should do well here.
8. Tom Hoge -- Hoge has cashed in five of his last six starts and has top-16 finishes in two of his last three. A good finish here locks up his status for next season.
9. Adam Hadwin -- The Canadian has made the money in his last three starts, all of which were top-21 finishes. He plays better when you can go low, like you can here.
10. Kyle Stanley -- Stanley has taken advantage of limited action this year and needs a breakthrough start to secure 2015-16 status. He's been in the top 25 in his last three starts. New to Reno.
