On May 3, when Lindsey Vonn, then Tiger Woods, announced they were no longer dating, Irish bookmaker Paddy Power listed a prop bet taking wagers on who Tiger Woods would date next. Among those listed were Woods' ex-wife, Elin Nordegren, a typical subject of Woods-Vonn Doom stories in the tabloids.
However, golf's rumor mill is churning, and the erstwhile Amanda Dufner (whose maiden name is Amanda Boyd) has been linked to Tiger Woods, with claims that the two are dating running rampant.
Tabloid site RadarOnline.com claims the rumors are true, saying Woods flew Dufner out to Seattle from Alabama, where she had been living with Jason near Auburn when they were married, to spend a few days with him as he prepared for the U.S. Open at Chambers Bay. The report also claims the pair have been together in some capacity for months.
The Dufners finalized their divorce on March 16. Jason Dufner has chosen not to speak with national golf media outlets because GolfChannel.com reported on the divorce filing.
Woods' agent, Mark Steinberg, issued a statement to Golfweek on Wednesday from The Greenbrier Classic vehemently denying the rumor.
"I couldn’t deny this more vehemently," Steinberg said. "There is less than zero strand of truth to it. 100 percent false. 100 percent fabricated and zero credence. Absolutely, unequivocally untrue. They are not even acquaintances. It’s absolutely ridiculous."
Is it true? Who knows, but the Tiger rumor bandwagon is back up and running.
