Lexi Thompson is proud of her topless Golf Digest cover.
The 20-year-old appears without a shirt on in the May "Fitness & Power" issue of the magazine, becoming the first pro golfer to appear on the cover of the now-third-annual issue. However, while Thompson isn't wearing a shirt on the cover, she also isn't wearing a towel, as it appears.
"It’s funny; it’s actually not a towel. It’s a jacket that I’m covering up with," Thompson said on "Fox & Friends."
"I have more clothes on in that picture than a lot of the that go to the beach. I actually have shoes on, I have shorts on and I have a jacket covering me and it’s pretty funny to hear those comments. You know it is a fitness issue we shot a lot of different looks, but that’s the one they chose for Golf Digest and, you know, I’m very happy with it.”
Thompson appears in a more traditional shoot inside the magazine alongside fellow LPGA players Michelle Wie, Stacy Lewis and Cheyenne Woods. The 2014 ANA Inspiration champion said she posed for the magazine because she wanted to showcase her fitness regimen.
“I decided I want to do it to not only to represent myself as a professional athlete and a golfer, but to represent all women athletes in general," she said. "Fitness is a huge part of my life and a huge part of the LPGA Tour at that."
Asked if, knowing the discussion that came out of the cover image, she'd do it all again, Thompson said, "I definitely would."
