LPGA Tour cancels 2015 Airbus LPGA Classic

When the LPGA released its 2015 schedule of 33 events in November, Commissioner Mike Whan noted the Airbus LPGA Classic, the Tour's event in Mobile, Ala., was tentatively on the docket. On Thursday, the LPGA announced that event has been canceled for this year.

"The Mobile, Ala., tour stop will not take place in 2015," Whan said in a statement. "We appreciate and applaud all that Mobile and the RTJ Trail has done to build support for our Tour. The entire Mobile community has been an amazing host to the LPGA for over a decade. We are fully committed to continuing the tradition of women's professional golf in Mobile and will be working closely with the tournament staff to ensure our return in 2016."

Jessica Korda won the 2014 edition of the event, which debuted in 2008. This is the second time the event has been postponed. The tournament was not played in 2009, but returned in 2010 with a new Spring date.
