LISTEN: Golf expert gets in car wreck while doing radio interview

We all know not to text and drive, but, until now, not too many people were aware of the dangers of being on the radio and driving.

Mark Allen was talking a little Ryder Cup on Australia's SEN with fellow Aussie Kevin Bartlett. Allen was assessing the Americans' chances of a record-tying Sunday comeback at Gleneagles when he suddenly crashed his Mercedes Benz in to another car on-air.

"...After that, you look at Phil Mickelson. Oh!" Allen exclaims as listeners can hear the cars colliding. "I've just crashed. I've just crashed, K.B. I've just crashed the car."

Barlett, an Aussie Rules football legend, offers a strangely appropriate subdued reaction.

Allen, who had a 15-year playing career Down Under, cut the interview short before calling back into Barlett's show. Sponsored by Mercedes-Benz, Allen got in a plug for the carmaker after the fact.

“It was unbelievable. I hardly felt it!” Allen said. “Mercedes Benz, if you want to look after your family, go and get one now.”
