When it comes to capturing both the beauty and unique elements of a golf course, few in the world have the eye of award-winning golf course photographer Brian Oar. And when you put Brian, his camera and his clubs (100-year-old hickories) together with a poster-worthy track like Jack Nicklaus’ Quivira at the tip of the Baja Peninsula in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, you know the result will be a work of art.

Listen to Talking GolfGetaways on AudioBoom!

Brian is a key member of the GolfGetaways and Golf News Net team for good reason: He’s photographed many of our favorite courses across the country and around the world. And in this episode of “Talking GolfGetaways,” he shares his impressions of Quivira with co-hosts Mitch Laurance and Darin Bunch — and tells us why it’s a one-of-a-kind destination, even for a golf traveler and photographer who’s seen so many beautiful places and courses around the world.

Brian and Darin (who’s also experienced Quivira, during the course’s opening ceremonies with Nicklaus back in December 2014) have a great back-and-forth about the course itself, which includes breathtaking waterfront holes in addition to a combination of desert, beach and valley settings that take advantage of dramatic elevation changes. And to hear Brian, who’s seen his share of spectacular 3-pars, say that Quivira’s No. 6 and No. 13 are as good as any in the world tells you all you need to know about this Nicklaus design.

And they don’t stop the raving at just the golf course — both Darin and Brian love the Comfort Stations at Quivira, stocked with food and beverages (adult and otherwise) that make you want to hang out for hours with no concern for pace-of-play. And they can’t speak highly enough about the accommodations and overall resort ambiance of Pueblo Bonito Pacifica just down the beach from Quivira.

Enjoy the conversation, and then get ready to move Quivira to the top of your Bucket List and start planning a golf getaway to Cabo.
