Are you a golf equipment junkie? Do you want the inside scoop on what's happening in the golf industry? Then Golf News Net's new weekly podcast, "Gear Effects," should be appointment listening.

Each week, Ryan Ballengee will join Score Golf's Rick Young to recap the latest equipment and industry news with unmatched depth. Rick and Ryan will also delve into larger topics and issues facing the sport and interview many of the people influencing what goes in your bag and how you experience golf.

In the premiere episode, we talk about some of the major off-season moves in both equipment and sponsorship, including Ian Poulter to Titleist, Hunter Mahan endorsing Ace Hardware and TaylorMade resigning Paula Creamer and standing behind Dustin Johnson. We also preview the PGA Merchandise Show. Finally, we wonder if the industry can ever truly coalesce around a movement to grow and modernize the game.
