This week, we have the Texas Children's Houston Open, with the PGA Tour heading to Texas for the first of two events pre-Masters in the Lone Star State.

We replaced Akshay with Corey Conners (whose name I only say in full), and that turned out pretty well. It's been a weird year, but it's been good in the main.
This week, we're at Memorial Park for the Houston Open. We have Scheffler and Rory, and of course, we're using neither. So we have to go find some longer shots to make our picks this week. Next week, we get a surprisingly good field with plenty of options.
My one-and-done recommendations fall into one of two categories: players who are in current form and those who have great course experience.
2025 Texas Children's Houston Open One and Done picks
Course history
- Sam Burns: He has a strong record here, although it's not as good as Innisbrook.
- Tony Finau: He won here in 2022, and then he was runner-up last year.
- Stephan Jaeger: Jaeger won here last year, and he was T-9 back in 2022.
- Aaron Rai: Rai has been playing great golf lately, and his record has been solid.
Current form
- Rory McIlroy: Just in case you're thinking of using Rory here this week: Don't.
- Jason Day: I like what I've seen from Day of late, though The Players wasn't his best work.
- Taylor Pendrith: Pendrith has been strong this year, and a brute course should fit him well.
- Maverick McNealy: He might have calmed down a little bit, but he's still a top player.
My pick this week is Aaron Rai.
