The PGA Tour this week concludes the West Coast Swing, with the 2025 The Genesis Invitational starting on Thursday at Torrey Pines' South Course in La Jolla, California.
My PGA Tour field ranking for the The Genesis Invitational looks at the top 10 players in this 72-player field that brings together the PGA Tour's top 50 from last season, as well as winners and other high-performing players from this young season.
The Genesis Invitational is in a unique situation this week, moving to Torrey South because of the LA wildfires and creating a much different environment for the event.
Torrey South is long, has small targets and, like Riviera, has some nasty rough. Scoring here is likely to be set up as a challenge.
Just a reminder that I make my expert picks looking at all fantasy leagues and formats. Whether you're playing in a fantasy golf leagues, betting on golf, or competing in a DFS (DraftKings, FanDuel) event, our picks highlight the top PGA Tour golfers to watch this week from our 2025 The Genesis Invitational rankings.
2025 The Genesis Invitational expert picks and rankings
1. Rory McIlroy: McIlroy won at Pebble in his last start, and he's an expert driver of the golf ball. Lots to like here.
2. Scottie Scheffler: Scheffler looked frustrated at Scottsdale, and rightfully so given his game. There's an issue with hip clearance, but he'll get it right.
3. Hideki Matsuyama: Matsuyama does have a good track record here, though it seems like something's a little off at the moment.
4. Justin Thomas: JT closed out at Scottsdale with a hole-out eagle and keeps playing at a high level.
5. Sepp Straka: Straka deserves to stay up here on the list given his overall form this season.

6. Thomas Detry: Detry is coming off the high of his breakthrough PGA Tour win, but we're also in a bit of a power vacuum on the PGA Tour, so he slots up higher quickly.
7. Shane Lowry: Lowry still bangs the ball plenty far, and he seems to thrive on the gnarly scoring courses.
8. Taylor Pendrith: Pendrith was great here just a few weeks ago, and these are the kinds of courses that suit his game.
9. Jason Day: Bringing Day back here is probably a worthwhile look given his record and overall form.
10. Daniel Berger: DB is heading back toward the winner's circle, and I'm really impressed with his added ball speed and overall approach.
