The 2019 Turkish Airlines Open final leaderboard is headed by winner Tyrrell Hatton, who picked up the win in the first of three European Tour Final Series events at the Montgomerie Maxx Royal golf course in Antalya, Turkey.
Hatton outlasted five other players in this six-man playoff after all six posted 20-under 268 in the 72-hole regulation tournament. The field teed off in the playoff in two threesomes, which winnowed down the field.
Eventually, it was Hatton and Matthias Schwab who were on the fourth playoff hole, played under the lights for the first time in official European Tour history. With a par on the fourth playoff hole, Hatton won the title.
Hatton won the $2,000,000 winner's share of the $7,000,000 purse.
Turkish Airlines Open recap notes
This was the first of three Final Series events, with the top 70 players in the Race to Dubai qualifying. The top 60 players in the standings qualified for the Nedbank Golf Challenge in South Africa next week. The top 50 players after that qualify for the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai to end the season.
Robert MacIntrye and Shubhankar Sharma both finished in a tie for seventh place at 18-under total, two out of the playoff. Unfortunately for Sharma, he came up just short of qualifying for next week.
Pablo Larrazabal was the only player in the field knocked out of next week's tournament, going from 60th to 63rd at week's end.
Turkish amatuer Taner Yamac finished last in the field. He was invited to compete as part of the Turkish Airlines commitment to the tournament.
