The Cabot brand is expanding, from Canada to the Caribbean. Mike Keiser and Ben Cowan-Dewar are going to build on the success of the Cabot Links resort in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, and they’ve announced plans to open the Cabot St. Lucia resort in 2021.
The 375-acre plot of land, with plenty of gorgeous coastline on the 27-mile-long St. Lucia island, will be centered on Cabot Point, an 18-hole course designed by Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw. There will be a clubhouse for the course, and the accommodations are expected to include a 50-suite boutique hotel with a spa, shopping and three restaurants.
The Cabot St. Lucia property will have a real estate component, similar to Sand Valley is Wisconsin, with lots and residences, many of them beachfront, up to $10 million.

Curiously enough, the land for Cabot St. Lucia was to be home to a Jack Nicklaus-designed course. However, plans for that property were scrapped in 2008 with the Great Recession. Cowan-Dewar saw a lot of the same stunning opportunities for holes on this property. Coore and Crenshaw will look to focus on playability with the Cabot Point course while giving the golfer maximum time playing along the coastline.
Limited preview play could begin in late 2020.
St. Lucia is a five-hour flight from major east-coast cities, giving a similar-length journey south to the new resort as the trip up north to Inverness, home of Cabot Links. The island has 27 holes of golf on it, meaning the new resort will effectively double the golf footprint.
