Ryan Moore made history on Thursday in the opening round of the 2019 Players Championship, notching the ninth hole-in-one on the famous par-3 17th in the tournament's history at TPC Sawgrass.

In the opening round of the first Players Championship played in March since 2006, the island-green 17th was playing 121 yards to a front-center hole location. It's the perfect pin for a hole-in-one, as players as able to throw the ball beyond the hole, catching a slope and bringing the ball back into the cup. However, that wasn't how Moore made his first-round ace.

Moore's tee shot was coming in hot, likely to go a little long of catching the ideal slope. And then his ball his somewhere on the lower portion of the flag stick and dropped down in the hole for a slam-dunk hole-in-one.

The amphitheater crowd went absolutely nuts at the 17th as Moore took bows around for the gallery.

Starting his round on No. 10, Moore's ace got him to 4 under par on the round, where he would turn in 32 to kick off his week.

This is the first hole-in-one on No. 17 at TPC Sawgrass since Sergio Garcia made an ace in the first round in 2017.
