Watch: Tony Romo stuffs its close after hitting from the hospitality tent at Pebble Beach

Tony Romo was having himself a day on Friday in the second round of the 2019 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. Despite blustery, windy and wet conditions throughout the Monterey peninsula, the former Dallas Cowboys quarterback and lead NFL analyst for CBS Sports was performing as well as some of the professionals in this 156-man field.

However, Romo found himself in some unique trouble late in the round at Pebble in Round 2, finding the carpet on the outside deck of the hospitality tent at the 15th hole. Pulling a Phil Mickelson, Romo decided to hit the ball off the clean lie from the outdoor carpet.

And he put a hell of a lot of sauce on it.

Romo's shot landed just past the pin and sucked back to within tap-in range for Romo, who is a scratch golfer.  That means Romo's score counts straight up, and he doesn't offer any handicap strokes to help in the pro-am competition with partner Jim Furyk. If his score beats that of his professional partner, then it counts for team.

Later in the round, Romo hit a beautiful 90-foot chip from one end of the 17th green to the other, knowing he wouldn't be able to putt the ball even close to the hole.

While Romo may not be good enough to hang with the pros on a week-to-week basis, the man clearly has world-caliber skill in flashes.
