2018 Shriners Hospitals for Children Open rankings: Top 10 picks
1. Patrick Cantlay -- Cantlay has become such a consistent player, it's hard to imagine thinking he's a dud pretty much any week on Tour. If he could get a hot putter for a few weeks, he could be Player of the Year.
2. Tony Finau -- Finau is playing in what's as close to a hometown event as there may be for him. The Utah native had it in China but lost to Xander Schauffele in a playoff. He's so close to a big breakthrough.
3. Rickie Fowler -- Fowler is making his season debut, but he's coming off a tremendous playoff run. This feels like a seminal season for Fowler one way or the other. Can he win a major or not?
4. Bryson DeChambeau -- Bryson is a bit of a guessing game. Like Fowler, he's making his season debut. However, he was a disaster in the Ryder Cup, and I'm curious how that will hurt or motivate him.
5. Webb Simpson -- Simpson had his best season end just a few weeks ago. He ended with T-6 and T-4 in the playoffs. He's won this event in the past.
6. Ryan Moore -- The UNLV product was decidedly horrible in the two Asian events he played, but he lost in a playoff at Safeway. I have to believe Moore is superior in this field for this event, but I've cooled on him more broadly.
7. Jordan Spieth -- Spieth is coming off his worst season, but he's about to get married. So he's probably pretty happy personally but frustrated professionally. What wins?
8. Aaron Wise -- Wise struggled after getting his win at the Nelson, but he finished with back-to-back top-16 efforts and had a T-5 at The Northern Trust.
9. Sam Burns -- The kid had a great week coming off injury at the Sanderson Farms. He could win at any time.
10. Chesson Hadley -- This is a feel pick more than a numbers pick. The guy likes this event, and he did well at the CIMB. But he was a dud at Safeway and the CJ Cup.
