2018 Wells Fargo Championship one-and-done fantasy golf picks

Wells Fargo Championship logo

With the PGA Tour deciding to offer a one-and-done fantasy golf platform, as well the increasing number of private one-and-done leagues, we here at Golf News Net will offer weekly one-and-done fantasy golf picks separate from our weekly fantasy golf rankings and picks.

We began with the 2017 Safeway Open, continue to the 2018 Wells Fargo Championship this week and will work through the Tour Championship in Atlanta in September 2018, keeping track of our picks all along the way.

First, before we begin, if you're not familiar with game, read this primer on the one-and-done fantasy golf format, and welcome to the game. It really is as easy as it sounds, but you have to take a long-term view of the season to figure out how best to use players.

We shot our shot last week, trying to back into a superstar (Jon Rahm) by picking his partner (Wesley Bryan) for the Zurich Classic. We missed. They MC'd, as did Jordan Spieth with Ryan Palmer and Justin Thomas with Bud Cauley. These things happen, but I still think we made the right play. However, I think next year we look at TPC Louisiana specialists and hope that works for the best. Jason Dufner (with Pat Perez) and Billy Horschel (with Scott Piercy) were 2-1 on the leaderboard, and both are past solo event winners.

We move on to the Wells Fargo Championship, back at Quail Hollow after a year away so the Charlotte club could host the PGA Championship. This is a par-5 scoring course above perhaps all else, so think of Masters friends when thinking here.

2018 Wells Fargo Championship One and Done picks

  • Tiger Woods: He's not a bad pick, really. Again, you're not prepared to use him in a major, so why not an event like this?
  • Rory McIlroy: If, for some reason, he's not a fit for your majors/WGCs, he's a great fit here.
  • Rickie Fowler: Fowler hasn't played his best golf this year, but his love for Quail Hollow is undeniable.
  • Patrick Reed: Reed clearly likes this place, and he's showed very nicely here in his last two starts on this course.
  • Alex Noren: Would continue peddling Noren. He's too good to ignore.
  • Webb Simpson: Club member and playing very solid golf. Hasn't won here yet.
  • Kyle Stanley: I actually liked him as a Masters dark horse, and he did about what I expected: made the cut.

My pick this week will be Kyle Stanley. He has a good finish here, and he's been OK this year. Due for a good week.
