However, perhaps the two greatest golfers ever to play the game hold the Masters records for being the youngest player to win and the oldest player to win.
Tiger Woods is the youngest player to win the Masters. He won the 1997 Masters by a record-breaking 12 shots at 21 years, 3 months, 14 days. Woods' first major championship victory made him the youngest green jacket winner since Seve Ballesteros, who won the 1980 Masters at the age of 23.
Jordan Spieth threatened to become the youngest Masters winner in 2014, when he nearly defeated Bubba Watson to become the youngest champion at 20 years old. Spieth won the 2015 Masters at a slightly older age than Woods to become the second-youngest champion.
Jack Nicklaus is the oldest player to win the Masters. In 1986, Jack Nicklaus won an astounding sixth Masters title at the age of 46 years, 2 months, 23 days.
No player other than Nicklaus himself has threatened to pass that mark. Nicklaus finished tied for sixth place in 1998 at the age of 58.
