That 68 posted to Donald Trump’s GHIN account has been deleted

In early November, golfers and politicos alike were shocked to see President Donald Trump's GHIN (Golf Handicap and Information Network) account was updated for the first time since June 2016. On his handicap index account, Trump showed a curious round of 68 -- by far the best score posted, dating back to 2009.

The score was met with skepticism. How would Trump have shot this score? Why would he have chosen this round to post of all the ones he's played since taking office? Was it a mistake?

Well, no matter who posted the score or why, it's now been deleted from Trump's GHIN account.

The most common theory is that Trump -- or whoever would normally post on his behalf -- didn't actually post the score. After all, there's very little security related to GHIN accounts and handicap entry in general. Pretty much anyone could have posted that score to Trump's account, either on purpose as a joke or with malice in mind, or by accident in entering the wrong account info.

Golf Channel's Ari Marcus had figured the course associated with the score was the South Course at Woodmont Country Club in Rockville, Md. Trump would have played a 5,457-yard golf course from the White tees, which runs counter to his skill level and his normal rating/slope he plays in the rare times he does post a score. That leads to the likely conclusion this was simply some kind of clerical matter and not some kind of ruse by Trump.

Trump's handicap index -- however much a vanity handicap it may be -- is back to 2.8. Trump still hasn't posted a score since June 2016, and life goes on.
