Tour Edge Golf's bread and butter is their fairway woods. They're typically well-received, sell well and, over the years, have developed a cult following among those in the know in the sport.
Now the company is back with its latest fairway wood offer, the Exotics CBX, which they claim is the longest in the marketplace.
The shape of the Exotics CBX is familiar, with a longer heel-to-toe profile that a better player will still enjoy, with a Hyper Steel body and a Beta Ti(tanium) cup face brazed to it. The cup face is brazed without welding for a clean look and efficient design. Variable face thickness offers forgiveness. The crown does not have an alignment marker.
In the CBX, a carbon-fiber sole unit moves the center of gravity forward and higher by placing more of the weight profile near the face. The carbon sole unit integrates into a new Speed Ramp sole, which takes its cues from the company's SlipStream sole. Its designed to minimize ground contact and keep speed through impact. The idea is simple: kill spin and generate big distance. That comes at the potential cost of some forgiveness, hence the larger length in the head to offer some offsetting moment of inertia increase.
The Tour Edge Golf Exotics CBX fairway wood will be available Sept. 5 for $350 each in four models -- 3 (13.5 degrees), 3 (15 degrees), 4 (16.5 degrees) and 5 (18 degrees) -- with either the Project X HZRDUS series and Mitsubishi Rayon Kuro Kage Silver Dual Core shafts. Other shafts are available at no upcharge.
