President Donald Trump is known for his, uh, ability to tell a whale of a tale. That's a nice way of saying "lie." It's also a bit of urban legend that Donald Trump cheats at golf.
Those two things came together in a bizarre fashion with new White House Communications Director Anthony Scaramucci. When Scaramucci was introduced by new Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders as Sean Spicer's replacement, Scaramucci made some remarks and answered media questions in which he went on some rambling answers to verbally pamper President Trump. Some of those answers included Scaramucci's testimony to Trump's seemingly unrelated athletic prowess, including seeing Trump be a great golfer (and he's supposedly a solid player, particularly for a 71-year-old guy).
Here's where it gets interesting. In the White House briefing room, Scaramucci said Trump makes "3-foot putts," which is all well and good. However, when the Trump administration published the transcript of Scaramucci's introductory news conference, those 3-foot putts had been changed dramatically.

But here’s what I tell you about the President. He’s the most competitive person I’ve ever met. Okay, I’ve seen this guy throw a dead spiral through a tire. I’ve seen him at Madison Square Garden with a topcoat on. He’s standing in the key and he’s hitting foul shots and swishing them, okay? He sinks 30-foot putts. I don't see this guy as a guy that's ever under siege. This is a very, very competitive person.

Obviously, what Scaramucci said isn't what showed up on the transcript. Did he really mean 30 instead of 3? Almost certainly, but that's not what he said.
