PXG is getting into the driving iron game, unveiling its PXG 0311X driving iron after it made its debut in staff bags at the 2017 British Open Championship.
This driving iron is not designed to get the ball higher faster, like a hybrid. It's intended to play like a true long iron, with some support to hit it with better, more consistent contact -- with a lower, more boring trajectory -- while rolling out with low spin for maximum distance, as a driving iron should. Don't let the wide sole fool you into thinking otherwise.
The 0311X has minimal offset and a center of gravity a little inside of center to reduce dynamic loft (the actual loft when you make contact) at impact.
The forged club head has TPE (thermoplastic elastomer) support inside for sound and performance.
The PXG 0311X driving iron is available from 1- (15 degrees) through 5- (24 degrees) iron lofts and is available only through PXG-approved sellers and fitters for $350 per club in their chrome finish and $450 per club in the Xtreme Dark black finish.
