Donald Trump has a fake Time magazine cover of him hanging at his golf clubs

President Donald Trump has been on the cover of Time Magazine plenty of times since entering the American political fray. The covers haven't necessarily been to promote flattering stories, but Trump has been on the cover plenty of times, even speaking about the publication's record for being on the cover the most times - a distinction, albeit a dubious one, that belongs to former President Richard Nixon.

And Trump has a Time Magazine cover featuring him hanging at several of his golf clubs which his Trump Organization manages.

The problem? The Time Magazine cover hanging at his golf clubs is a fake.

The Washington Post reported Tuesday on the fake cover, which claims a March 1, 2009 publication date. There is no Time Magazine from March 1, 2009 -- the season premiere of that year's "The Celebrity Apprentice." The secondary headlines do, however, borrow from the real March 2, 2009 issue of the magazine.

“Donald Trump: The ‘Apprentice’ is a television smash!” is the big-print headline, with “TRUMP IS HITTING ON ALL FRONTS . . . EVEN TV!” above the Time nameplate. It's not real; any of it. Frankly, the cover looks like an obvious fake to someone who has ever read Time Magazine. And the bar code for the fake cover? That goes to a UPC code for buying karaoke software.

Of course, Time Magazine confirmed the cover was fake to the Post.

The fake cover is placed twice at Trump National Doral near Miami, Fla., including the pro shop and sports bar. The fake cover was at Trump International Golf Club in Doonbeg, Ireland, though it was taken down when a reporter went to look for it over the weekend. The fake cover is also at Trump International Golf Links in Scotland.

So Trump actually has some FAKE NEWS hanging on the walls of at least four of his clubs. Sad!
