Since its inception in 1960, the Masters Par-3 Contest has never been cancelled. It may have been temporarily postponed to deal with passing weather. It may have even been cut short. However, in every year it has been played, the Masters Par-3 Contest has seen a winner.
The Wednesday weather forecast for the Par-3 Contest doesn't look good, with severe weather expected -- practically guaranteed -- starting mid-morning at Augusta National Golf Club. That severe weather forced officials to force patrons to abandon the property for a time on Wednesday morning.
However, the Masters announced that the gates will re-open at 12:30 p.m., at which time the Par-3 Contest would start. That never happened.
It's well known that a Masters Par-3 Contest winner has never gone on to win the green jacket that next Sunday as Masters champion. So, maybe pray for more rain?
