So, you've decided to play daily fantasy golf, but you have no idea how to play on FanDuel -- the rules, how scoring works, any of that. Well, we here at Golf News Net are happy to help. Before you delve into our weekly fantasy golf picks, we thought it would be a good idea to give you the basics behind daily fantasy golf.

FanDuel daily fantasy golf rules

In FanDuel daily fantasy golf games, the format starts with a salary cap-based open draft. You draft eight players that are valued based on their world ranking, recent performance and past performance at the event in question. You pick four players for the first two rounds of the tournament, then another different four players for the final two rounds of the tournament. You have $50,000 to play with to make those picks. Once the tournament starts, you earn points based on a player's position on the leaderboard and their scoring, including birdies, eagles, pars, dropped shots (bogeys or worse) and streaks for birdies and bogey-free rounds. The player with the most points earned by their eight-player team at the end of the tournament wins.

FanDuel daily fantasy golf basic strategy and tips

The basic rule for FanDuel is you need to have four players on your weekend team who made the cut, otherwise, you're losing out on 36 holes of potential points and the bonus points based on a player's finish. You'll want to pick guys in the first two rounds who typically score well earlier in the tournament and might fade on the weekend when the nerves increase and the cream rises to the top.
