The 2017 WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play field is set with the end of the 2017 Valspar Championship. The top 64 players in the Official World Golf Ranking at the conclusion of the tournament qualify for the field at Austin Country Club in Texas.

However, we do know several players who will be skipping the event, including Henrik Stenson, Rickie Fowler, Justin Rose, Adam Scott and Adam Hadwin. This means the field goes down to No. 69 in the qualifying world ranking, with Si Woo Kim getting in the field. Tony Finau will not defend his Puerto Rico Open title, instead choosing to be first alternate in Austin.

When players in the top 64 in the Official World Golf Ranking skip the next highest-ranked player in the world ranking who is able to play is slotted in the field.

Under the current format, the top 16 players in the field anchor a four-player group in the initial draw. Then players are randomly selected to fill out each group from players ranked in subsequent groups of 16. All four players in each group play each other in a round robin to figure out who moves on to the bracket-style Round of 16.
