The sport of long-drive is growing in popularity and, with it, so too are the opportunities for top-name players to compete around the world for sizable purses. One of those new opportunities is the Long Drive World Series, a lineup of four events around the world featuring eight hand-picked long drivers.

The series will begin in Dubai on March 17 at Jumeirah Golf Estates, site of the European Tour's season-ending DP World Tour Championship. Two-time World Long Drive Champion Tim Burke, 2016 worlds runner-up Ryan Steenberg, two-time European Long Drive Champion Maurice Allen, World Long Drive Champion Joe Miller and the United Kingdom Long Drive Champion Lucas Dornan headline the series. Joining, too, are Britain’s Brad Pearmain, the 2016 Italian Long Drive Open winner; 2016 Portuguese Long Drive Champion Ilija Djurdjevic; and 2016 Scandinavian Long Drive Champion, Emil Rosberg of Sweden.

Each event features an open wild-card spot, with one of the eight players kicked out in the qualifying or seeding round.

After the first event, the series will move to the United Kingdom, with a venue to be determined. Prize money has not yet been announced.

The Long Drive World Series will be available for viewing in the United States, though details haven't been finalized on how and when.
