Callaway Golf is introducing a new higher-end wedge within its popular Mack Daddy family.
Dubbed the Mack Daddy Forged, these wedges are forged from 1025 carbon steel to offer top-notch feel. The head design features less offset, a more square toe and a straighter leading edge, which designer Roger Cleveland believes inspires confidence with a clean look.
The wedges have a 16-groove Mack Daddy configuration that adds a groove at the bottom of the face, close to the leading edge, for added spin and check on shorter shots.
The center of gravity position progresses through the line with the CG moving up as loft increases. This is done with four holes in the back of the wedge of varying depths -- shallower in the lower lofts and deeper in the higher-lofted wedges. The idea is to promote a lower flight in higher lofts without negatively affecting spin.
The Mack Daddy Forged wedges are available in two finishes: a satin chrome with a thin, copper strike layer for feel and a brushed slate for a raw look that rusts gently over time.
The Callaway Golf Mack Daddy Forged are available Jan. 20 for $150 per club in six even-numbered lofts from 50-60 degrees. All wedges come with the True Temper’ Dynamic Gold Tour Issue shaft.
