Tiger Woods is coming back at the Hero World Challenge, and he's bringing with him a mix of old and new equipment.

Since Nike Golf is out of the equipment game, Woods has new TaylorMade woods, his old Scotty Cameron Newport 2 putter and a Bridgestone Golf ball. However, Nike is still a key part of Woods' gear. Woods is still using his Nike VR Pro blades, and he's debuting the new TW 17 golf shoe.

The shoes are the product of research and development that began at the 2015 Greenbrier Classic, where Woods sat down with Tobie Hatfield, Nike Senior Director of Athlete Innovation, to plot out a new shoe, not just an update. The shoes would emphasize the change away from Sean Foley's stack-and-tilt-inspired teachings to Woods' old-but-new classic golf swing, using the right leg as the driver of the swing.

After multiple rounds of prototyping, Woods was fascinated by the strapping system concept, designed to keep the foot more secure throughout a round of golf. Woods has been using the shoes since April, and we'll see them in action this week.
