Charles Barkley’s golf swing may soon be terrible left-handed

Charles Barkley's golf swing is painful to watch. The hitch in the swing that stops him from getting to the ball, then the contact itself. It's just all very bad. In fact, it's so bad now that Barkley is considering swinging from the other side of the ball.

That's right: Charley Barkley is thinking of learning a left-handed golf swing.

Speaking in the announce booth after his Saturday round at the American Century Championship, Barkley said he's thinking of making the switch after undergoing a right hip replacement that follows from having the left side done after last year's celebrity golf event in Lake Tahoe.

"What I've been thinking about ... to be honest with you, and I've talked to Hank Haney a little bit, I think I'm never going to get over this mental thing swinging the golf club right-handed," he said.

"So, after I get better, I think I'm going to make a full attempt to play left-handed from here on out."

At this point, Barkley, who once had a proficient golf swing before picking up this swing yip, has run out of other conventional ideas.

"I've tried every single thing in the world, and my wires are so screwed up in my head," he said. "Like, I have no idea what's going to happen ... when I get over the golf ball."
