TaylorMade to release Phenom junior clubs, make donation with each purchase

TaylorMade is back in the junior golf club business, announcing its Phenom set as its first offering in the category since 2010.

The set is designed with kids in mind. The shaft lengths, weights and flexes are optimized for kids, as are the grips, which are fit for smaller hands.

There are two configurations in the Phenom family, with the K40 set coming with six clubs and geared to kids ages 5-8, while the K50, meant for kids 8-11 years old, has eight clubs. A driver, hybrid, 7-iron, sand wedge and putter come with both sets, while the K50 adds a fairway wood and a 9-iron. The Phenom putter is a face-balanced, center-shafted mallet that has been designed for easy alignment. Both have junior stand bags.

The 400cc titanium body driver in both sets has 16 degrees of loft, while the low-profile stainless steel fairway wood comes in at 24 degrees and the stainless steel hybrid is at 30 degrees.

Available May 15, the Phenom K40 set will cost $250 and the Phenom K50 set will go for $50 more. With each set sold, TaylorMade will donate $20 to support PGA Junior League, a junior team competition proliferating throughout the country.
