American Peter Uihlein had been playing with a bum wrist for months, and he'd finally had enough of trying to play through the pain. So, Uihlein went under the knife to repair the torn ligament in his left wrist.
“Eventually they’re going to need to cut it open, apparently,” Uihlein said in February at the European Tour's Maybank Championship. “So that’s going to be kind of a buzzkill. But it’s fine right now. I’m playing through it and we’ll see how it goes. The doc said I couldn’t tear it anymore, so I’ve got that going for me.”
After the wrist surgery, Uihlein shared on Twitter a picture of himself in the hospital recovering. He'll be out several months.

The 26-year-old’s won the 2013 Madeira Islands Open as his lone European Tour victory. Since first tearing the ligament, Uihlein went through a stretch in February of three consecutive top-10 finishes, including back-to-back fourth-place efforts at the Perth International in Australia, then two weeks later in March in Thailand.
