Who is Puerto Rico Open leader Rafael Campos?

Puerto Rico native Rafael Campos is the unlikely 36-hole leader of the Puerto Rico Open, this week's opposite-field event played alongside the WGC-Dell Match Play.

Campos carries a one-shot lead over George McNeill into the third round at Coco Beach Golf Club (formerly Trump International Golf Club). Should he win, he'd become the first Puerto Rican player to win on the PGA Tour since Chi-Chi Rodriguez won the 1979 Tallahassee Open, the last of his eight PGA Tour wins.

The 27-year-old Campos typically plays on the Web.com Tour, earning his status by finishing third on the 2015 Order of Merit on PGA Tour Latinoamerica. So far in 2016, he has made three starts on the Web.com Tour, making two cuts, with his best finish being a tie for 20th in his last start at the Chitimacha Louisiana Open last week.

Campos graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2010 with a business degree. He has a twin sister, Cristina. He picked up golf at the age of 9 and claims to also be a great ping-pong player.

The good news for Campos is that, as he tries to track down a PGA Tour win and a two-year exemption, he knows how the course should play. He calls Coco Beach one of his home clubs.
