About that time Jordan Spieth called holing out a wedge to win money

Jordan Spieth is pretty damn good...but you already knew that.

What you probably didn't know, however, is that the guy can sometimes call his shot -- and that he's used that prescience to win himself some money from his golf buddies. One of those golf buddies is country singer Jake Owen, who is also Spieth's amateur partner at this week's AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am.

The two held a joint news conference on Wednesday at Pebble Beach, and Owen told the story of how Spieth got into his pocket by calling a hole-out eagle at the Grapefruit Pro-Am in December.

There was about 1,000 behind the green watching because, you know, the world NO. 1 is in the small town of Vero, and he looks at me and my dad or whatever and goes, 'What are the odds? I'm going to make this.' I'm like, 'You're 98 yards out in the middle of the fairway.' And, without missing a beat, he steps up, hits the shot and, in the air, he's like, 'Pay up.' And I'm sitting there watching it -- no lie -- and it hits 3 feet behind the pin, with all these people watching, spins back and goes in the hole. And he looks at me, and I go, 'This. Doesn't. Happen. With normal people!'

Owen said the host club, Vero Beach Country Club, is making a plaque to commemorate the shot.

Not only did Spieth call his shot from the fairway, he sent the crowd at the Vero Beach, Fla., event into a tizzy when he busted out the Happy Gilmore swing on the first tee.

Spieth can do it all.
