PREVIEW: Ping’s Crossover hybrid iron

While Ping is yet to announce its early 2016 offerings, Bubba Watson gave the golfing public a taste this week of the new G Series driver, the sequel to the wildly successful G30.

Another pro took to Twitter on Tuesday to share another forthcoming Ping club, and it's a beauty.

Web.com Tour player Brady Schnell shared an image of a hybrid iron he dubbed the Crossover (via My Golf Spy).

Days later, Ping announced the Crossover. It's not intended to be a hybrid or an iron, but rather a mix of the benefits of both. Hence the name.

The Crossover sports the workability of an iron and combines it with the distance and forgiveness of a hybrid. It has a Carpenter 455 steel flat face, built for maximum distance. The top line is modest and it has a little offset so as to give that iron comfort over the ball. A cascading internal sole is built to deliver maximum speed to the ball at impact. Moving weight out to the heel and toe, Ping engineers moved the center of gravity low and back for distance and forgiveness.

The Ping Crossover is available now for $248 per club. It's available in 3- (18 degress), 4- (21 degrees) and 5- (24 degrees) options with a stock Ping Alta 70 in senior, R, S and XS flexes.
