Phil Mickelson reportedly has a new swing coach, and his name is Andrew Getson.
Getson is a 41-year-old Aussie that Mickelson knows through his long-time association with Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz. Getson has been with the club for six years.
Getson played as a pro golfer for 10 years on the Australasian, Asian and Web.com Tours. When he was 18, Getson joined the Victorian Institute of Sport's golf program, which also produced the likes of Dale Lynch and Steve Bann.
Mickelson probably is drawn to Getson's philosophy, which, similar to Mickelson's former swing coach Butch Harmon, is based on identifying fixes to specific swing flaws that get in the way of a player's goals. Getson preaches simple, small fixes that fit a player's body type and physical ability.
So Mickelson is not going to break down his swing with Getson to build it back for one last run. Rather, the duo appears ready to make small tweaks that will simplify the game.
