McDowell, the 2010 U.S. Open winner at windy Pebble Beach, protected his lead on a breezy afternoon by the Red Sea to card a 12-under 268 total, holding off late pressure by defending champion Dustin Johnson. But he was reeling after blowing a six-stroke lead on the back nine Sunday in The American Express. But he regrouped — telling caddie Terry Walker, “Let's go get this job done, like, quit messing around” — to win with a shot to spare for his second PGA Tour title in 80 events, and first, since the 2018 Valero Texas Open 48 starts ago.
