LIV Golf has significantly changed the purse for their now-final event of the 2026 season in Indianapolis, cutting the prize money for the individual competition in the name of making the closing event feel more team-focused.

The purse for the event this week at The Club at Chatham Hills is $40.1 million, which is approximately what the purse was to be for the now-canceled Team Championshp event in Michigan.

The 57 individual competitors in the event will play for a $10.1 million individual purse, which is a little more than half of the $20 million individual purse that the players had historically competed for since the concept began. The winner will get $2,020,000, as compared to the standard $4 million.

The 13 teams of four will also simultaneously compete in a team event, which is standard practice on LIV Golf. The scores for all four players on each team will count for all four rounds, and the lowest team total will win the $8.4 million first-place prize money. This format is a substantial change from the historical Team Championship format, which was rooted in team match play.

In 2026, LIV Golf individual events featured a $20 million individual purse and a $10 million prize fund for the simultaneous team competition. The Team Championship has not had an individual component to it in the past, emphasizing LIV Golf's team format.

Jon Rahm has already won the season-long individual points race for a third year running, though he will earn only $6 million this year for that accomplishment compared to $18 million in the prior two seasons. The second- and third-place finishers in the individual race are still up for grabs this week, with the runner-up to Rahm getting $3 million in bonus money and the bronze medalist getting $1 million.

All told, LIV Golf players will not have the opportunity to compete for $59.9 million in prize money that was originally on offer this season. With the cancelation of the Team Championship in Michigan and the event in New Orelans, LIV Golf players are shorted two tournaments from a scheduled 14.
