We continue our 2025 PGA Tour one-and-done picks with the 2025 The Genesis Invitational, concluding at the 2025 Tour Championship, keeping track of our picks all along the way.
Before we begin, if you're not familiar with game, read this primer on the one-and-done fantasy golf format, and welcome to the game. It really is as easy as it sounds, but you have to take a long-term view of the season to figure out how best to use players.
This week, we have the The Genesis Invitational, with a 72-player field taking Torrey Pines South -- and only the South -- for four rounds. The event was moved from Riviera because of the Los Angeles wildfires.

This is an awkward week at an awkward time. My picks have either been very strong, or they've missed the cut by a shot. I hate that, especially after a strong start. It's time to do better on my personal picks, even if the recommendations themselves that I don't wind up picking have been quite good. So, fade me at the moment, but don't fade the list.
Now, we have Torrey Pines this week, once again. The Genesis had to be moved, so we get the South Course for four rounds. It's long, tough and bumpy. I think we could run back a lot of our picks from the Farmers, but now we have practically everyone at our disposal.
My one-and-done recommendations fall into one of two categories: players who are in current form and those who have great course experience.
2025 The Genesis Invitational One and Done picks
Course history
- Sungjae Im: Of course, I was a week off in picking Sungjae, who played great at Torrey a few weeks ago.
- Taylor Pendrith: Pendrith has been in the top 10 here the last two times he's been here, including a few weeks ago.
- Tony Finau: Finau's a horse-for-course play here, but that didn't work out a few weeks ago.
- Hideki Matsuyama: Hideki handles Torrey well, and he's defending this week, in a strange way.
Current form
- Rory McIlroy: The guy just won in his last start, and his best skill is driving the ball.
- Daniel Berger: DB has added some substantial length, and his driving accuracy is great.
- Mav McNealy: McNealy largely had a good week at Scottsdale, but he was frustrated on Sunday.
- Scottie Scheffler: Scheffler seemed quite frustrated last week at Phoenix, but he was still good.
My pick this week is Taylor Pendrith.
